07ABC Analysis Excel
Many people use Excel for ABC analysis. It's common, Excel is installed on almost every PC, and it's used daily, so it's no surprise.

However, I only use it for data up to 20 columns and 20 rows, and for anything more than that I use Access.
The reasons are:
1. The data structure can be corrupted when processing the data.
2. Analysis takes time when the amount of data is large.
3. Multiple people cannot access the same data.
4. The original data cannot be stored in one place. It is distributed by file copying.

Recently, Excel has evolved to the point where it can use queries like Access and has powerful functions. I did some research.
1. "Relationships can be built."
2. VertiPaq (when using a data model) is available (however, it uses the DAX language).

It seems that learning the DAX language to create relationships in Excel or use VertiPaq is probably more difficult than learning Access.
Excel is easy to get started with, but there's a steep climb ahead. What's more, the knowledge you gain there doesn't connect to databases. Access is a better choice for increasing the value of your personal knowledge.
The queries (SQL language) used in Access, a relational database, can lead to acquiring knowledge of a company's main databases, such as Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, and IBM Db2.

I think Access should be used for ABC analysis.
1. Data is stored in tables, so the data structure will not be corrupted.
2. Analysis does not take long even if the data volume exceeds 1 million rows.
3. Multiple people can access the same data.
4. The original data is stored in one place, so security is very high.

In conclusion, the path to performing ABC analysis is the same whether you use Excel or Access, but Access has the advantage in terms of future potential. If you had used Access at first, you would probably have been frustrated by Excel's ambiguity (flexibility).

Another idea is to stop creating an ABC analysis system.
Creating an ABC analysis system is like cooking and eating a meal.
There's cooking and eating, but it's easier to stop cooking and just eat, and the company can use the energy it saves on other things. Stop learning ABC analysis.

If you have Excel data, you can run the data through analysis software and output the resulting ABC analysis in Excel format.
